3 Reasons Why We Like Reading Thrillers So Much

Life can be a bit mundane sometimes, especially when we’re in the middle of the daily grind and feel like we need some kind of excitement in our lives. Human beings are natural storytellers, especially when it comes to stories that are completely the opposite of our own. Even if it’s not real, we want to feel that second-hand feeling of a different life, especially when it comes to thrillers! They’re one of the most gripping genres out there, with twists and turns that keep us on our toes. But what is it exactly about this genre that makes us love it so much? Here are 3 reasons why we enjoy reading thrillers:

1. Something’s missing

Like mentioned above, we may sometimes feel like there’s no excitement in our lives, so we compensate that with reading about it. Thrillers have exciting plots and throw the reader into a world of crime, suspense, and passion where anything goes. Talk about exciting!

2. Adrenaline junkie

As human beings, we have the potential to feel things we’re not actually experiencing first-hand. For example, we may cry at a part of a book when the protagonist’s lover dies. Or we may get that adrenaline rush when reading about someone running for their lives in an exciting action scene. The anxiety experienced is worth it to the reader with hopes of a resolution in the end. However, that’s a gamble they have to take - with thrillers, anything goes!

3. A little hope goes a long way

Setting aside the fact that we feel like something is missing in our lives, and that we get a second-hand adrenaline to compensate for it, there’s another reason we gravitate towards thrillers. We read them with hopes that one day we, too, will experience something crazy exciting in our lives. Hope is a powerful thing as it keeps us going until we find a way to transform our hope into a reality. Reading thrillers can give us something to hold onto - but hold on tight because it’s going to be a hair-raising ride!

Whatever the reasons are, as human beings, we constantly strive for something more. Browse through our online library, www.emplying.com, for thrillers like Never Go Back, by Lee Child. Being the 18th book in the Jack Reacher series, this intense suspense thriller takes you on a crazy journey with Jack Reacher to clear his name from an old murder case. Perhaps even Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn, where you follow a man who may or may not be responsible for the disappearance of his wife. Fill in the void with an adrenaline fix and a little bit of hope to top it all off!
